Wahhh...I want an Asian historical!

I want an Asian doll too. I don't care if she's historical or LE, as long as she has a story. I'd love to see one with shorter hair and no bangs.

I would also love to see an Asian doll. I'm all about diversifying my collection of dolls- even though the only white one I have is Felicity.

I would also love to see one without bangs. I can't see them making a doll w/ Chinese clothes and Japanese food (sushi) unless the doll is mixed. I wouldn't be surprised if they made sushi in a lunch set- it is getting more popular, even among younger kids.

At a sushi restaurant near where my mom lives, the kids' sushi meal comes w/ little candied Nemos and Dories on top of the rolls! How morbid! [img]smile.gif[/img]

This would be <u>beyond</u> awesome. I don't really know about the time periods she could be in, but I have so many ideas about her clothes and accessories! I would love for her to come in a silk lilac meet outfit with yellow flowers. I don't know what that style is called, but kind of the style of the retired Chinese new year outfit. For her school lunch she could have like little sushi's...awww! It would also be cute! It would also be cute if she had like midlength hair...not quite as long as, lets say, AGT#3's hair, but midlength. Her hair would be black, pared on the side. Probably just straight is good. And little wispy bangs to the side would be sooooo adorable, too! Her name could be Lia. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Thats a good idea but it sounds more like an LE Asian rather than a historical. But I still like where you were going with that.

Personally I would like to see a Chinese or Japanese girl from the 1870s living in California. It would be fascinating if AG did a Japanese girl who had to live through the American internment camps, but not only do they already have Molly from WWII, it would probably be too controversial for AG to tackle.

But I think a LE like you said or a historical from the west would be great. I also would like to see them give her a better face mold. I would love to have an Asian doll because I like having a diversity in my doll collection, but I just cant bond with the current mold [img]redface.gif[/img]

What I would like to see even more than an Asian doll though would be an Indian or Middle East character. But thats just me, I simply have a stronger interest in those cultures. *shrugs* Either way, they are long overdue on creating SOME form of an Asian character.

Same here. I think it's about time AG makes an Asian historical or Asian LE doll. Enough about the blonde dolls with Josefina face mold. We don't want discrimination! There is only one Asian doll and that's AGOT with no stories.

I can understand why (to some extent) they haven't create an Indian or Mid-East character yet because honestly, they did not start immigrating to the US until relatively recently and it is, after all, American Girl. Its not a company about girls all around the world, but about the diversity of girls WITHIN our country. But people from China and Japan have been coming here for well over a hundred years now, around the same time that the Irish started coming over in the 1850s. So AG really needs to get on the ball on this one!! LOL

I was thinking that Josefina or Kaya or AGT15 (medium skin, textured black hair, dark brown eyes) would make good East Indian dolls.

AGT4 is OK for an Asian doll - or part Asian actually. What about AGT25?

I would wait and see if Jess helps [img]smile.gif[/img] (I am strongly suspecting she will.) and then I would pick a doll and make your own project. It would be fun.

An Asian Historical doll would be great, but I don't think there is any discrimination going on here because there isn't one. It's not like AG doesn't already have an Asian doll...isn't there an AGT doll that's Asian? That said, there are a lot of good stories that could be written about an Asian doll...I like the Japanese internment camp story someone came up with. I also like the railroad worker's girl idea. Any other story ideas? [img]smile.gif[/img]
